Locale began with a simple idea: food tastes better when you know where it came from. For over a decade, owner Heather Laganelli has worked alongside farmers, bakers, and ranchers throughout Kern County to bring the best of California's central valley to the heart of downtown Bakersfield.

Sourdough is baked daily. Sauces simmer for hours. Vegetables arrive dusted with the soil they grew in. Even the small things — the salt, the herbs, the honey — come from people we know by name.

But Locale was never just about ingredients. It's about the people around the table. Artists, families, neighbors, regulars who've become friends. We're proud to have been recognized as Small Business of the Year by The Hub of Bakersfield — and we're grateful for every meal shared in our dining room.
